I got used to it, but I can untaught
Two weeks ago, I me was given the right to use the indoor bicycle for my training finally. So I started very furious:-). At beginning it was pretty difficult to sit there for a while...it's quite boring to be closed in gym and stare to the wall while training, but finaly I've got the flow and must say that I would never tell how high quality training you can easily do using indoor bike! OK I must first prove it during running sesions later...
My everyday torture on bike ended always similar...third of the liquid still in the bottle, third in my T-shirt and the last third on the floor in shape of two perfect circle directly under my elbows:-)
Yesterday I rode for the first time my MTB-Bike, it was just imposible to stay indoors in this awesome spring sunny weather, especialy if you live in such a nature, where you are following side roads through forests and meadows and enjoy continuous Alps panaroma with snowy mountains over 3000 meters high. And must say I was never so freaking fast on bike! Two weaks of everydays indoor bike trainings finally paid off:-D I should be thinking about MTBO this year!;-)
In the very end of my sesion I rode to Ebikon to check out this years "Rotseelauf". Ueli Küttel, my training partner also started there. 10 K race around lake "Rotsee" in area "Rotsee-Ebikon-Buchrain" (my home playground to train on(-: ) has very nice track with changing surface and plenty of small hills. This year in ideal weather ran Matheka from Kenya new track record 29:27!
This time I made my sparing partner Ueli just cheering company...
...on the other hand I found the best slide ever!!!:-)
What doesn't kill you...
Instead of that came injury during night competition, fracture of my big toe on left foot...
Selection races will I be participating only as a visitor, because there are literally as we czechs say "behind the beech".
Photo story: NOVEMBER - FEBRUARY
12. - 14. November: My sister's visit in foggy Lucerne
To run out from the misty depression and see the sun we jump on Rigi Mountain, "The Queen of Mountains". This accessible massif (highest peak Rigi-Kulm 1797 m over see level) is we could say a synonym for alpine tourism since they build up here the very first european cog rail. From this massif is unforgattable view on many of the Alp's peaks over Vierwaldstättersee (Lake of Lucerne).
20. November: "Trip Engelberg"
My flatmates rented a marvellous luxurious apartement in one of the most famous local mountanious resorts, Engelberg (45 km away from Lucerne). Their plan was to go ski, but the lifts on glacier were in unexpectedly last maintenance before the season's start, so they ended with enjoying the scenery, sun, 15 °C and each other (as shows Phil on the photo).
I took advantage of this and went on Sunday to visit them...
To run around (s. photo), try their sauna, enjoy the evening, let them to cook for me;-)...
26. - 30. November: Journey to Chambéry, Savoy
At the end of November I had some time to go see me well known Chambéry and Aix-Lles-Bains regions and my there studying girlfriend Lenka. I found some time also for another "mountain" run. Massif des Bauges was this time out of our interest, we ran in the other side of Lac du Bourget.
3. December: Hanna's & Minji's Birthday Party
Because I write only about weekends, the way in my listing found "just" one party...not there were more of them;-).
11. December: Zürcher Silvesterlauf 2011
"The New Year's" run at beginning of December? Everything is possible and no one cares. Already 35 years! One of the "headstones" of swiss mass running races. 8,6 km in four loops through Zürich city center. I contended brave and finished 24th.
Results: http://services.datasport.com/2011/lauf/silvester/RANG130-001.HTM
The starting grid was full of swiss O-stars, but most of them started in category "Sie und Er" (SHE & HE) where you would have difficulties to see the track-and-field dresses in the field rich on people in Trimtex and Noname.
Results of "Sie und Er": http://services.datasport.com/2011/lauf/silvester/RANG091.HTM
You miss Dani Hubmann? He was invited to run the elite category as on almost all bigger cross, road and indoor races held during winter in Switzerland. Was he there "lost in translation"? Definitely not! He danced there just behind the back of swiss living running legend Viktor Röthlin.

18. November: Long run from Emmenbrücke
To make a picture where I live, put I here a long run (25 km) direct from the doors of our building in flat side direction Zug. I live in the furthest point of the red line in Emmenbrücke, suburbs of Lucerne (cca 15' run distance from Lucerne city center). Lucerne old town lies straight on the end of Vierwaldstättersee, the lake whose ending changing to river Reuss can you see in left upper corner.
23. - 25. December: Christmas
Finally after very looong time home in CZE again, at least for three days...
26. December - 8. January: Figure skating camp Crans-Montana
Kanton Valais/Wallis (one of the bilingual), resort Crans-Montana placed on the plateau high over Sierre in altitude of 1500 m over see level. That is the occasional work place my sister's Kamila which invited on her camp this time not only talented skaters from the whole Romandie, but also me as their fitness coach.
Crans-Montana is very expensive ski resort with a shoping street where is probably the highest concentration of butiques the most famous designers and most expensive clockworks in the entire Switzerland, really liked in between rich Italians and Genevans. This village is very famous for most of the days to be sunny which was actually not really oru case this time and because of enormous snowing must we very often "escape" into the nearby resort Leukerbad where contrary to Montana is the ice stadium with roof and where in contrast to Montana had I be also all the time on ice and control that people don't cross our girls's way (here we shared the place with other people, in Montana we had our own lessons).
Then came over for couple of days also Lenka with which I was first since 2006 skiing. Not very nice views that day but at least not so crowdy slopes and so I have more maneuvering room for my perfect curves on my sister's "Bigfoots". We went as well to do cross-country skiing in local area (15 km of roads directly between houses of crans-Montana). And of course we skated ones where on local Montana stadium get Lenka private lesson from my sister.
Kamila drove us then back to Lucerne where we enjoyed another week together before beginning of tests...
22. January: Treslagstaffel
Treslagstaffel traditional relays held in January by club OLG COrdoba. Three members in team and six legs race in woods of canton Aargau. I was in team OLV Luzern 1 and awaited what will happen when I didn't since 6.11.2011 have nothing in common with orienteering or even running in terrain. Finally it wasn't that bad and I did quite well on the first leg finishing around one minute after Matthias Müller and that probably only because of unfair forking. My second loop (4th leg) was the same for all, but I already running in the forest with great margin to leaders started the race badly and was with more that 3 minutes of mistakes far behind the best...The victory celebrated team "Höck ist der GRÖSSTE" when Matthias Müller & Matthias Merz honour the outgoing coach of youth team of Aargau Höck Zihlman (under him were they long youth years also running). They let to make special set of clothing and led the team for clear victory on Treslag.
29. January: Innerschweizer Crosslauf-Event 2012 Kriens
My first "typical cross-country race" in my entire life. Four loops (alltogether 4,35 km) with quite significant elevation and one steep uphill. I have absolutelly no idea what should I expect, so I was hoping some orienteerers will come, by which I would know their strengh, but this time nobody better showed up. On the other hand the real athletes were very good although only local guys. It was actually the championship of central Switzerland... What more the course was after these bunch of before starting juniors etc., 2 cm of snow and temperatures around zero quite mudy and I miss a little these 2 cm long spikes other guys wore...
Results (just men category, without all seniors, juniors running the same distance...)
4. February: ZesOLNak first meet
As the assistent coach of Zentralschweizer-OL-Nachwuchskader (something like the talent centrum of central Switzerland - cantons Luzern, Zug, Schwyz, Uri, Nidwalden & Obwalden) I participate on one of the lack of actions which this organisation this year for all the young runners organise. It was just one day meet with training-educative-informative character. While the headcoaches Hubert Klauser and Sonja Feer teached the youth "how to do it" I went to forest to set up the controls. Training was aproximately 3 km away of Lucerne center in nice Meggerwald forest. The conditions could be slightly better , but around 3 cm of snow, sunshine and -5 °C is not a tragedy;-). Basically everyone had with the personal coach or someone else from club. These people had to run with and check the behaviour of the runner in forest. Some guys had noone there. Thats how I get Julian fro OLV Zug. He did solid performance but searching for number 6 on earlier hill wasn't indeed kosher. Next meeting is planned on 10. and 11.3 - training in Kernwald and race of youth league in very neighbourhood of Emmenbrücke. I should be there as well...
12. February: Cross-Challenge Benken
Sunday the 12th of February stoped I in Küssnacht and took Ueli, my sparing-partner, and drive to run the championship of cantons Schwyz, Thurgau and St. Gallen in cross-country running. Totally flat course located on the grass field close to sports facility in village Benken did not lead to sensational "wows". In freezing cold of -15 °C came to run on turfy frozen track (8 loops with total lenght 8,65 km) only 10 wrestlers (4 men and 6 seniors up to 30 y.o.). Actually the very first thing we heard after coming fro our parking lot was, that they expect very strong field full of great orienteers headed by Hubmann Brothers. There was very strong field of runners but just in junior category when five minutes before our start said they that noone is there cause all the guys flown to Portugal:-D. So I formed up with these reality somehow and was beaten just by 1 men and 1 senior when I oversprinted one Ethiophian in his thirties...
13. - 20. February: Crans-Montana + Chambéry
After the examinations and one intensive study week of "Sustainibility" I finally reached the holidays. More precisely one week of vacation before 20.2. beginns the spring semester again. I drive on Monday my russian flatmate Anastacia to Kloten airport and continued to south visit my sister in Montana again. When it is sunny weather it looks somehow like that: 1) skating stadium, where teaches Kamila; 2) my 800 m long "athletic track" around the lake in center if Montana; 3) I went once also to cross country ski...
When it snows like hell, we have to leave Montana for another resorts (to let Kamila work and make money:-) and that is always tearfull goodbye with my "hornet".
Swimming-pool and sauna 20 seconds away from apartement...which does not mean I will go swimming:-D
Does not matter, with Kamila is always a lot of fun!:-)
Then on I went under Massif de Bauges to see Lenka. Friday because she works all week long right now and would have not very much time for me left...We went to skate, tried to choose new pants and went to La Feclaz, this time to cross-sountry skiing...
And on Monday back "home" to Lucerne.
P.S.: this article is devoted to Steve!!!
